Manitowoc has released a new line of budget commercial ice machines labeled Kool-Aire or Koolaire.  This has long been a Manitowoc brand, but was previously only assigned to a small line or reach-in glass door coolers.  The new Kool-aire ice machines are now made by Manitowoc, but at a lower price point than the popular Indigo, and manufactured in Mexico.

Manitowoc ice machines have changed over the years, becoming more efficient, and improving upon old designs.  One major change has been in the style of the ice thickness probe or ice thickness control.  Also known as a harvest switch, this probe is what signals Manitowoc ice makers to harvest the ice that's formed on the evaporator.

Older Manitowoc ice makers will utilize what's known as a single wire ice thickness control.  These probes are used to replace double wire ice probes on older model ice machines, like the B and J series machines.  The OEM part number 7627813 is also used as stock replacement for the very popular Q series modular ice machines.

On some occasions the water inlet valve on your Manitowoc ice maker may require maintenance. Although it typically does not require removal for cleaning, if it is malfunctioning, not allowing water into the trough, removing the valve and cleaning may save you the cost of a service call. There are two main symtoms that may indicate you need to remove your water inlet valve, no water coming into the trough or water overflowing the water trough.
